Hi there, I’m Annalie.

If you are looking for someone to laugh with, have a snivel with, or to cheer you on, you’re in the right place.
A few years back my life changed so much and this blog is one of the outcomes. For starters, I want to live a more meaningful life and try to see the positive in cloudy moments. The experts say it is important to be mindful, to live in the moment. Won’t it be a bonus if this blog could also motivate you to tackle your issues and dreams!
There are so many professional blogs that give advice to those that struggle with depression or one or other mental health condition.
This blog will be different. As far as possible I’ll be true to myself and through my personal experience with living with Bipolar disorder and whatever life threw my way, would like to be a sounding board for others, for you.
Please note that I’m not a qualified professional and you have to see an appropriate doctor or therapist if you have a medical issue. It is important to look after yourself.
Did you wonder about the blog’s name, Odd Colours? I love colour and sometimes spot a shade of colour that I’m sure is nowhere to be found in a colour index. We don’t always have a choice when our world changes, and if it’s a bad one… Well, I thought when putting strange colours together (like in a “new” life), it could be pretty interesting. A new start, a new art piece. Does it make sense?Â

IN A NUTSHELL
I’m a South African, who grew up in Namibia, a small diamond mining town called Oranjemund (and no, I didn’t grab a sparkly one when leaving!). A few years back we moved from a city suburb near Cape Town to a small West Coast town.
I’m a night owl, forever taking photos, like chocolates with nuts, peanut butter, true homicide documentaries, taking the long road alone listening to my music, painting, and an occasional sufferer of information overload. I’m forever trying to be true to myself, to be real. O yes, and I’m hard at work turning my jewelry hobby into a small business. Please hold thumbs for me.
